At Queen of Peace, the Auslan program, provided by Auslan Education Services, engages students in developing basic communication skills in Auslan (Australian Sign Language). The program uses a ‘teachers as co-learners’ approach, where both teachers and students learn together.
Auslan is a distinct visual language with its own grammar and structure. Students learn simple greetings, fingerspelling, everyday vocabulary and how to use signs and facial expressions to communicate and form simple sentences.
